Rural Education Program
We deliver a structured education program in emergency care to clinicians from rural health facilities in Kenya, within a combined project between Dharura, Laikipia County (Nanyuki teaching and referral hospital, Dol Dol sub-district hospital, Kimanjo sub-county hospital), the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, Borana Conservancy, Isiolo County and the Northern Rangelands Trust.
Nanyuki clinicians work alongside UK volunteers to provide whole day regional education sessions of case discussion, teaching and clinical simulation/skills hosted in rural health clinic facilities and dispensaries. This also provides a forum for clinicians from a wide geographical area to meet and share practice, helping to develop services and clinical processes.

Community First Responder Program
Dharura recognises that initial Emergency care in rural areas of Kenya is often provided by rangers or local community health workers. Since 2021, we have developed a program to build expertise in immediate medical care and facility transfer in these groups, working together to ensure stocked first aid kits for these responders are available and continuing to ensure competency in the delivery of these interventions.
