Pre-deployment Training
-
Our own clinical fellows and Volunteers and fellows from all around the UK are offered the opportunity to undertake a 3-day residential training scheme in Global EM. This course encompasses an introduction to our projects but also to the broader scope of emergency medicine around the world. Participants learn how to stay safe in unfamiliar and remote environments, considerations for practising medicine safely and ethically in resource limited settings and how to develop a project, provide education and build partnerships in GEM in a safe and sustainable manner. The course incorporates didactic sessions, tabletop exercises and practical sessions and is run by a team of senior clinicians with a wide range of Global EM experience as well as by recent fellows providing their up-to-date insights from the field.
