Fellowships

  • Fellows are included in education activities and support the Simulation facilitator team.

    Emergency Medicine Fellowships

We annually recruit doctors on a 12 month fellowship in the Emergency Department with 20% of their paid time dedicated to Global EM activity. This allows fellows to receive structured Global EM training, engage in UK based project work, and to spend up to 8 weeks in Kenya on deployment supporting our projects with Nanyuki hospital and the surrounding rural clinics, as well as learning from local staff about how to provide the best level of healthcare possible in these settings.

Fellows have also been able to continue developing previous global health passions of their own such as the use of remotely managed simulation as an educational tool. The Fellowship benefits from high standards of governance and support led by senior Global EM leaders.

Recruitment commences in February each year for an August intake.

    How to apply

Prospective medical fellows can contact us at admin@dharura.org so we can answer any questions and direct you to the application process.

  • The fellow nurses work a lot on the Triage process with the Nanyuki team

    Nursing Fellowships

We recruit nursing fellows internally from the Bristol Royal Infirmary ED to spend 10 weeks deployed within the partnership to Kenya, supporting training, education and quality improvement in Nanyuki and the surrounding rural clinics. They gain a wealth of experience in managing conditions rarely seen in the UK as well as developing their skills in resource management and leadership.

Dharura supports flights, accommodation and travel within the projects and with access to remote advice from senior clinicians in Bristol whilst in Kenya within our high quality governance structures. Clinicians also have the opportunity to spend time in the local communities supporting projects such as Team Talk.

    How to apply

Nursing recruitment is managed within the BRI Emergency Department, and prospective fellows can contact us at admin@dharura.org so we can advise on potential roles in the ED

  • The Critical Care Fellowships fellowship is under development. Contact us if you are interested.

    Anaesthesia & Critical Care Fellowships
